The question I get the most...
I am frequently asked if I photograph weddings. In all honesty, I have only shot one wedding, and I did it as a gift for my brother and his bride last August. It was an absolutely perfect day! The weather was sunny with high temps in the low 70s. It was a small wedding with just family and the closest of friends, on a gorgeous farm-like property in Ohio. If all photo sessions had this kind of scenery and weather, my job would be so much easier!
So, back to the question. Do I do weddings? I am primarily a lifestyle family photographer, but "I DO" consider weddings on a case by case basis. See what I did there? Anyways, I work solo, so I am not equipped to handle larger weddings. I want to be sure to capture all the things, but I can't be everywhere at once. So, the big things I consider before committing to a wedding are:
- LOCATION- Will the wedding take place indoors or outdoors. Will I have access to the venue beforehand in order to prepare and make sure I've got proper lighting. That part isn't a must, but it's nice!
- COVERAGE- What events of the day do you want covered? Getting ready, ceremony, reception, bridal portraits, all of the above? This will affect how many hours of work, both during the wedding and during the editing process, will be required.
- PEOPLE- How many people are in the wedding party, and how many guests will be in attendance. This can affect how well I am able to do the job by myself.
I am best suited for small weddings and elopements in a well lit venue or outdoors. I am a natural light photographer. That means I do not use flash, if I can avoid it, in order to preserve the artistic look I want to achieve in my images. If you reach out regarding shooting a wedding, I will give you a quote based on the information above. If I do not think it is a job I can handle on my own, I will be completely upfront with you.
To give you an idea of what a full day of shooting looks like, you can view the images below. I captured some moments of the bride and groom getting ready (indoors), the ceremony (outdoors during full sun), the reception (indoors & outdoors), a few family and bridal portraits (outdoors). I was on my feet from about 6 hours straight, running around to get all "the shots", and it was so worth it! *Please note: the full gallery delivered to the bride and groom had over 300 images!
