Hey there, friends! Welcome to my photography blog. I hope to cover a variety of photography-related topics that will help you when hiring your photographer, planning your sessions, taking better photos at home, and more! For this first post, allow me to tell you a little bit about myself.

I have always loved the art of photography, but long before I ever received my first camera I was in love with the idea of preserving photo memories and gifting them in the form of various keepsakes.

At the age of 7, I remember asking my dad to help me build a special wooden frame that I could attach a photo to that I had chosen for my mom's Mother's Day gift. Quite some time before Shutterfly existed, I LOVED to gift people with personalized photo gifts. Around the age of 12, I discovered scrapbooking. That was my favorite hobby for a very long time, and I even got a job at a scrapbook store eventually. The more I got into scrapbooking, the more I realized how fun it was to take the photos to fill the pages with. By the time I was 16, I had decided what I wanted to be when I grew up... a photographer! I was gifted my first Canon SLR camera for Christmas at the age of 17. That's right... I'm old and began my photography journey with (gasp) FILM! After graduating high school, I studied with the New York Institute of Photography for a bit, learning the more technical aspects of taking beautiful pictures.

As life went on, my dreams of becoming a professional photographer got put on hold. I got married, moved to a new state, had children and became a stay-at-home mom (which is the best job I've ever had). I never stopped taking pictures though. In fact, my love for photography only grew as I captured the evolution of my little family.

My kids are 8 and 11 now, so I figured this would be a good time to try again. Finally, after years of taking pictures as a hobby and many people telling me that I've got a "good eye" for it, I finally (officially) launched my own photography business this past February. It's not been easy, but boy has it been fun! I've always had a bit of social anxiety, so I was a little nervous to take the leap, but I am so grateful for the clients I have encountered. It has been really awesome meeting new people in my area and photographing their special moments, and I look forward to seeing what God has in store for this new chapter in my life.
